I have passion for education, a passion which has driven my activity as a musician over the last twenty years. I feel most 'alive' whilst working with others to explore ideas, concepts, techniques and philosophies, always aiming to catalyse personal transformations for my students. Learning is important!​

I started teaching as a teenager, helping my friends to learn the piano and drums. Since those beginnings I have taught continuously, influencing thousands of young musicians. The range of institutions at which I have taught is exhaustive, including Community Projects, elite Conservatoires, SEN schools, Universities and Primary/Secondary Education including comprehensive, grammar and independent schools. I have provided percussion workshops for festivals, schools and arts organisations.

In addition to my work within institutions I have gathered wide experience as an examiner and adjudicator. I have been an examiner for Rockschool RSL since 2005, conducting exams for thousands of students across the world. As an adjudicator I have been a panelist for a range of competitions ranging from school music prizes to national events including BBC Young Musician of the Year Percussion heats.

As a teacher, I now work primarily within the UK Higher Education sector, drawing on my experience presenting workshops and masterclasses at over sixty Universities/Conservatoires around the world. My activity within Higher Education has been recognised through Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
